The North Jersey Avalanche are proud to present our tryouts for the 2012-2013 season.  This will be the 13th season of the program and we are still doing our best to improve the program every year.  Please see the Program Details to see what has been added to this year's program.  Also make sure to check back after February 21 to see our full coaching staff.

The 2011-2012 season was an exciting season for the Avalanche.  Here are some of the highlights:

• 2 Players received committments to play Division 1 College Hockey (Alex Rauter - Cornell University, Ryan Rosenthal - University of Vermont)
• Nick Ebert was named to the Canadian Hockey League Top Prospects Game and won the Hardest Shot at the Skills Competition
• Justin Selman was named to the USHL Top Prospects Game.  Justin is committed to the University of Michigan.
• 6 Players were selected for the NHL Central Scouting Report (Matt Morris, Nick Ebert, Alex Rauter, Justin Selman, and Bron Loiselle)
• 8 Players were on Division 1 College Hockey Rosters (Kevin Clare - University of Michigan, Alexx Privitera - Boston University, John Parker - University of Maine, Max Novak - Union College, Ben Carroccio - Yale University, Craig Wyszomirski - Providence College, Dan Colvin - West Point)
• 11 Players were on rosters at New England Prep Schools (Luke May - Choate Rosemary Hall, Daniel Casey - Kent School, John John Ganss - Taft, Greg Liautaud - Canterbury, Ryan Melvin - Canterbury, Jarrid Privitera - Gunnery School, Alex Rauter - Choate Rosemary Hall, TJ Roche -Kent School, Ryan Rosenthal - Kent School - Jake Thoubboron - Deerfield Academy, Elliott Vorel - Milton Academy)
• Ice House hosted it's first Prep School/College Seminar to provide pertinent information on how to play prep school hockey.  the event was attended by numerous prep school coaches.  Prep school coaches were also a fixture at Midget practices throughout the year thanks to the efforts of Todd Johnson, Avalanche Prep School liaison.
• Our teams continue to play as competitive schedule as possible to ensure development and exposure for our players.

Ice House is proud to present its 15^th Annual Summer Hockey Camp under the direct supervision of Dan May, Ice House Hockey Director. 25 hours of ice time in one week makes this camp the ideal place for all hockey players to elevate their game in a fun and enjoyable atmosphere. Brian May, Jeff Auger, Ryan Gibbons, Glenn Carlough, all part of our Avalanche coaching staff, are back as our most dedicated lead instructors. Our Hockey Day Camp is recommended for players’ 5-13 years of age. Full hockey equipment is required for all on-ice programs.

MITE, SQUIRT, PEEWEE, BANTAM, MIDDLE/JV, HIGH SCHOOL

• Season Length: April 14- June 28, 2012 (no games 5/26-28)  ●   Enrollment Deadline – MARCH 21, 2012
• 12 regular season games, plus playoffs. Teams that compete in the championship games will receive an award
• Game schedules will be available on our website April 3^rd
• High School League – NO FIGHTING TOLERATED

Team Applicants will receive 1 pre-season practices (first come first served with team deposit). Scheduling requests must accompany application; requests will be considered but cannot be guaranteed. Teams must supply their own coaches and jerseys. A $2,000.00 deposit must accompany team application by March 21, 2012. The balance is due by May 1, 2012.

CROSS ICE HOCKEY

Avalanche Cross Ice League Spring 2012

ATOM-6 & Under / MITE-8 & Under

Our Avalanche House League plays cross-ice games to introduce the fundamentals of ice hockey to the novice player. By dividing the rink into three smaller rinks/games the players have more fun and develop faster.  Each child becomes more involved in the play and has increased opportunities to touch the puck. The emphasis in this league is on skill development and fun. Rosters will be flexible, no scores or standings will be recorded.

Ages: Players born in 2003 and younger

• Season Length: April 15^th – June 24^th  (No session on 5/27/12)
• Game Day & Time: Sundays at 11:30 AM -12:30 PM
• Jersey Distribution: April 15^th at 11:00 AM.
• Games begin on April 15^th at 11:30 AM

Hockey Adult App Spring 2012

• 11 Regular Season Games
• Team Fee:$3750
• Individual Applicant Fee:$285/Goalies $140 - Division 8 (inexperienced) or Over 40 (experienced)

• 6 - 10 Teams Per Division - Filled on a first come first served basis
• Great Start Times – Most start times between 7:30pm and 10:45pm
• Daily Scoring Leaders and Stats
• Top 4 teams in each Division qualify for playoffs

Our clinic program is the best way to learn all aspects of skating and fine-tune your stick skills. Our Hockey Prep and Learn to Play Hockey clinics have taught hundreds of young skaters the essential skills of skating, stick handling, passing, and shooting. We also offer specialty clinics in power skating, defensive skills, goaltending, and other areas throughout the year.

Learn to Skate Clinic

12 week program for $160 Introduction to skating on hockey skates for boys and girls with no previous skating experience. A hockey helmet with cage is required to participate. Elbow pads and knee pads are suggested. Rental skates are included for this clinic.

Learn to Play Hockey Clinic

12 week program for $325 All clinics will be broken down into 3 skill level groups: beginner, intermediate, and advanced. Players will have the opportunity to advance to a higher skill level group based on the coach's evaluation of their improvement. Sessions will consist of 45 minutes of skill development followed by a 15 minute cross-ice game. A jersey is included with this clinic. Full hockey equipment is required. rental skates are available.

Semi Private Hockey Lessons

Hockey Learn to Skate is an introduction to skating on hockey skates for boys and girls with little or no previous skating experience. A hockey helmet with cage is the only equipment required. Rental skates are included for this clinic only. Skaters are recommended to wear warm clothes, kneepads, and warm gloves. This clinic will work on the basics of skating stride, balance, and agility to give the skaters confidence on the ice.

Learn to Play Hockey is broken down into 3 skill level groups, beginner, intermediate, and advanced. Players have the opportunity to advance to a higher skill level group, based on the coach’s evaluation of their improvement. Sessions will consist of 30 minutes of power skating & 30 minutes of stick skills. Full hockey equipment is required. Skaters will continue to work on their skating skills while gaining confidence in stick handling, passing, and shooting. This clinic is designed to prepare players for league play as well as a compliment to league play. We recommend that players continue to use the clinics to improve their skills after joining the youth league.

Specialty Clinics

At different points during the year the Hockey Office offers specialized clinics that focus on specific areas of the game and position specific clinics. Some of these offerings include Goalie Clinics, run by our goalie coaches Jon Tortarella and Carl Antifonario, Defensemen Clinics, Power Skating & Stick handling Clinics, and Travel Player Clinics, designed for the more advanced players. These clinics are designed to improve individual skills in a more intense setting and provide coaching in specific areas.

Players should register for the level they intend to tryout at.
Squirt, Peewee, and Bantam players can register for both Tier 1 & Tier 2 age appropriate clinics if they so desire.

This skill development camp offers skaters ages 6-12 the opportunity to learn from some of the area's best coaches. Skating, stick handling, shooting, and passing are the foundation of this camp and will be covered daily. each day is capped off with scrimmages in the 3rd session.
