Hockey

The Ice House Hockey Program is one of the largest and best run programs in the United States.  From our Learn to Skate to our Avalanche Travel Hockey Program to our Adult league we truly have a place for everyone.  The goal of our program is to provide a fun environment where kids and adults can enjoy the game they love.

Youth Programs

Our Youth Hockey Program consists of 4 main components: Clinics, camps, house league, and travel hockey.

 Clinics

During the course of the year we offer 4 series of Learn to Skate and learn to Play Hockey Programs.  Learn to Skate is designed for the beginner skater to learn the basics of skating.  Classes are offered in the evening and last for 30 minutes.  Skaters are taught the basics of balance, skating stride, agility and other essential skills.  Once skaters have a good understanding the basics they can move on to the Learn to Play Hockey Program.  Here we continue to hone the basic skills while introducing skaters to basic hockey skills of stick handling, passing, and shooting.  Classes are held on weeknights and weekend days and last for one hour.  Skaters need to supply their own hockey equipment for this program.  These clinics are great for the beginner and intermediate players who wish to improve their hockey skills.

Camps

Ice House offers 2 basic hockey camps: school break camps and summer camp.  School Break Camps are held during Christmas and Presidents’ Day Breaks and offer players the opportunity to improve their skills while off from school.  The timing and scope of the camps are determined each year and published in a camp application.

Ice House Summer Camp has become a great way to get a lot of ice time in a short amount of time in order to see drastic results quickly.  With half day (2.5 hours of ice each day and 12.5 hours per week) and full day (5 hours of ice each day and 25 hours per week) options it is the only way to get this much ice in such a short period.  The camp is designed to be fun and challenging so kids can leave camp better hockey players and with a smile on their face.  Summer Camp typically runs for 7 weeks in July and August.

House League

House League or rec hockey is a great way for players to get involved with the game of hockey.  Our teams play 1 time per week and typically practice 1 time per week as well.  This allows players to participate in other activities and improve their skills.  Glen Rock, NJ Wild, and Ice Dogs run programs in the Fall and Spring for players in this league.

North Jersey Avalanche Travel Hockey Club

The Avalanche are a travel hockey organization consisting of teams from the Mite (8 & Under) to the Midget level (18 & Under).  The teams participate in the New Jersey Youth Hockey League (NJYHL) and the Atlantic Youth Hockey league (AYHL) as well as attend in some of the best tournaments in the country.  Our teams have been very successful locally winning tournament, league, and district championships.  Our teams also have established a national reputation with USA Hockey National Championships performances and the 2005 Peewee National Championship.  Our coaches are paid professionals who had successful playing careers in youth, high school, college, and professional levels.

Adult Hockey

Our Adult Hockey league is consistently one of the largest leagues in the US with 60-70 teams participating per season.  Because of the size our league there is a division for every level player.  Beginners to intermediate to advanced players have a league that suits their ability.  Teams are assigned to a particular night of the week and games are typically scheduled before 1045pm.  The league supervisors are on site to ensure a safe and competitive environment for all.  Team and individual stats are updated nightly so players can keep up to date on themselves and their division.  Ice House runs 3 seasons: Fall/Winter (October-March), Spring (April-June), and Summer (July-August).
